Insurance cover for your holiday property

A holiday property is one thing above all else: a place to relax – whether it's a holiday flat on the Baltic Sea, a holiday home in Italy or a second home in France.

However, because it is often empty, rented out and you as the owner cannot be there all the time, a second home is exposed to completely different risks than your main residence, which is occupied all the time.

This makes it all the more important to have insurance cover that takes precisely this special use into account and protects your holiday home from unexpected damage and its financial consequences.

Holiday Home Protect is the new holiday home insurance from Funk EXPERTS for holiday homes, holiday flats and second homes. From 1 April 2026, you will be able to take out your insurance directly online here. Until then, our Service Centre is available to answer any questions you may have:

  • by email at: holidayhome@funk-experts.de

  • by telephone Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following numbers: All enquiries from the UK: 0800 99 552 442 4 (free of charge), for calls from abroad: +49 40 35 914 422 00

What does our holiday home insurance offer?

Holiday Home Protect combines building and contents insurance, which can be supplemented with home and property owner's liability insurance. Coverage for extended natural hazards such as flooding and earthquakes is also included.

Why should you insure a holiday property with Holiday Home Protect?

Classic risks such as burglary, fire, water damage and storm damage also pose a threat at holiday destinations. However, special insurance cover is necessary because you are not permanently on site or because you rent out the accommodation temporarily or permanently. Holiday Home Protect reliably covers damage caused by guests and liability claims from third parties. In an emergency, travel costs to the site of the damage are reimbursed so that you can act quickly. If the property is vacant, special regulations apply which also cover damage that has occurred unnoticed.

How Holiday Home Protect protects you: practical examples

Travel expenses to the location of the damage

Tap water leaks unnoticed over a long period of time. You have to travel there at short notice to assess the situation on site and coordinate the repairs. Holiday home insurance covers the necessary travel costs to the property.

Damage caused by tenants and guests

Tenants or guests unintentionally damage furniture or kitchen equipment in your holiday property. Our additional module covers the costs of repair or replacement.

Loss of rent

After fire damage, your holiday home is temporarily uninhabitable. Booked stays have to be cancelled, and you lose income. Holiday Home Protect reimburses you for the costs of the temporary loss of rent.

Liability claims

A guest slips on the icy path to the holiday accommodation and claims damages. Home and property owner's liability insurance protects your assets.
